From Talk to Action: Turning Sustainability into Measurable Business Outcomes
UOB FinLab helps SMEs turn sustainability intent into measurable outcomes — from cost savings to emissions reduction — by bridging the gap between awareness and action.
The GreenTech Accelerator Thailand is a six-month regional program designed to help global green technology innovators scale and pilot solutions that address corporate sustainability needs. To date, GTA has received 186 GreenTech applications regionally, with 27 challenge partners submitting 50 challenge statements.
Through strategic partnerships, the latest cohort in Thailand delivered impactful pilots across energy efficiency, waste management, sustainable agriculture, and building maintenance, driving measurable environmental and economic benefits.
A pilot project was launched to install Nano Coating technology on the link bridge and UOB building to reduce annual maintenance costs while achieving resource savings. By applying the coating, the building benefits from improved light transmission and reduced dirt accumulation. This also lowered cleaning frequency, water usage, and chemical consumption, delivering clear environmental and economic benefits.
Nano Coating Tech successfully completed the installation in mid-August 2025. The process went smoothly, with UOB CRES coordinating cleaning activities before the coating application.
Key Pilot Results:
GEPP Sa-Ard Co., Ltd. partnered with IMPACT Muang Thong Thani to pilot a Waste Data Intelligence platform that digitises waste management and drives sustainability through real-time, data-driven insights.
This Waste Data Intelligence platform was implemented across IMPACT’s event venues to record and analyse waste data by location and activity. The pilot achieved over 90% data coverage and improved the recycling rate from 0.2% to 2%, building a strong foundation for smart, circular waste management.

This pilot used 8 tonnes of biochar on organic farms with Kingdom Organic Thailand to improve the soil and yields for the farmers. With guidance from a Suranaree University of Technology professor, WongPhai designed an experiment applying varying biochars, fertilisers, and water levels to kaffir limes. Monthly monitoring is conducted using sensors, while nutrient and water absorption data are analysed using Synchrotron machine to assess biochar’s impact on plant health and soil performance.

The Alto CERO platform implemented AI-driven automation at UOB Plaza Bangkok, targeting air-side HVAC systems (AHUs) to achieve 5–10% energy savings. The IoT Gateway collected real-time data from UOB Plaza Bangkok’s chiller and air-side systems. Using IPMVP Option B and weather-normalised baseline modelling, the systems utilised AI-optimised AHU speed, static pressure and humdity. This maximises UOB Plaza Bangkok’s energy efficiency while maintaining indoor comfort and air quality.
The analysis confirms that AI-driven optimization has led to measurable energy savings at the UOB Plaza. The Total Baseline Consumption was 13,456 kWh, while the Actual Consumption after AI implementation improved to 11,325 kWh, resulting in an average percent savings of 15.83%, above the target of 5-10%.

CERO launched a gamified, “From CERO to HERO” with students from PIM to create marketing campaigns.
UOB, CERO, and our partners guided the students through each stage, providing feedback and recommendations to refine their ideas. CERO supported them with backend resources and technical assistance while sponsors funded funded the students’ campaigns. This enabled students to test strategies, engage peers, and bring their creative concepts to life effectively.
